300 Yard Shuttle. Can you beat his time?

Many people talk about cardiovascular conditioning and how important it is to have. However, most don't realize that there are different ways to work you cardiovascular system. Aerobic conditioning is the more common and familiar type of training. This would be an activity you do for a longer time frame and at a moderate effort or pace.

The 300 yard shuttle is cardiovascular training as well, but it uses a different energy system. This type of training is anaerobic, which is quite difficult and very uncomfortable. The goal is to go as fast as possible, with the limiting factor being the lactic acid that builds up, forcing you to slow down. Anaerobic training is important for not only the short distance runner, but the long distance runner as well.

To become a better conditioned athlete you need to train both aerobic as well as anaerobic energy systems. Now get out there and hit the shuttle runs!
